At $500 per photo, you might stop to think about what your next shot is going to be, maybe spend a little more time on composition, and perhaps be a little more meticulous with your development process. And that’s exactly what Ian Ruhter has to do with his bus-sized camera, who makes direct black and white prints using plates lined with silver. Similar to the tintype process, Ruhter has gone back to the beginning of photography in order to create images that are life-size and crystal clear. It’s really quite amazing, and I’m positive the images are not given any justice on the world wide web. Watch the video above and then check out Ian’s Tumblr at: ianruhter.tumblr.com.
