IS stands for “Ingrediente Secreto,” that unique “thing” in the soul of anyone driven to create with real passion, real originality. Founded by Richars Meza in 2010, IS Studio has compiled an impressive list of cultural clients and created quite a unique portfolio for themselves. One of the projects that really struck me was the work for the Ficciones Asi├íticas (Asian Fictions) exhibition, which is driven in large by a custom red ribbon typeface. While ribbon typography has been quite fashionable lately, the “Ficciones” typeface is a condensed sans serif that utilizes slight shadows to callout the geometric features of its characters. Its rich color and industrial look complement the theme of the exhibition quite appropriately, and is used on everything from the invitations to the exhibit signage. Really fantastic, in my opinion.
